Cantilan's Baybay Beach and Nature's Park

Want to visit Cantilan Surigao del Sur but you don't know where to start? I bet you've heard about the blue lagoon, libtong cove and ayoke island but don't know what else Cantilan has to offer?

Cantilan is one of the municipality in the province of Surigao del Sur. cantilan is also considered the "Cradle of Towns" in Surigao del Sur. The town has unspoiled beaches from gray and white sands, and picturesque islands and islets.

And if you’re coming to Cantilan to experience the sun, beach, and surf, then head about 10 minutes out of the town proper to the beautiful Baybay Beach. This is a perfect getaway to start your Cantilan trip. The beach may not have a white Boracay typed sand beach but the place is captivating. Having said that though, Baybay is an amazing beach, the water is crystal clear, the sand is powdery clean and it is good for surfing, especially for beginners.

Baybay beach is a perfect spot for some morning tea/coffee and a swim, or just sat down on the sand and let the sun shine to your face and simply enjoy the beauty of Cantilan.

Heading towards the end of Baybay beach is Cantilan's Nature's Park. What a delightful surprise this area was. I recommended this place for swimming and picnic.

Please Remember : Don’t Miss The opportunity of seeing the locals doing " Baling ", an old community way of fishing. Also, get a chance to experience performing "Baling".

There is no doubt that Cantilan is a worthy place to visit.

The Perfect Walk at BENCAB MUSEUM

Baguio City is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the Philippines. But on this post you will find details about the unusual place to visit once you are at the summer capital. I'm talking about Baguio City's newest and most exciting tourist attraction : Bencab Museum. In addition to these i can guarantee that your time can be manageable and can be particularly enjoyable.

The BenCab Museum is located at Km. 6 Asin Road, Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet , a brief 20 minute drive from the City proper.

Bencab Museum's houses a stunning collection of art from the Philippine National Artist Benedicto Cabrera (BenCab) and some acknowledged Filipino masters and rising contemporary artists which is divided to different areas of the museum. And, when visiting BenCab Museum, you will be reminded of the rich culture and traditions of the northern Philippine highlands which is being shown on his works and collections.

I spent approximately 1 hour at the Bencab Museum and then headed outside at the coffee shop called Cafe Sabel. The shop is overlooking a magnificent view of the area and the beautiful garden. Aside from some homegrown coffee, tea and delectable food from Café Sabel, the garden is the perfect way to relax after a museum visit and enjoy some fresh air. I highly recommend Lemon and mint tea at Cafe Sabel. It is addicting. Savoring one cup of their tea is worth every savoring sip. Definitely a  treat not to be missed if you’re in Bencab, especially after a long day of sightseeing.

BENCAB MUSEUM is not a just a museum, there’s a whole lot more happening there. So don’t hesitate to see what’s happening in person, you might find something interesting.

At the risk of being called rebellious or disruptive, I feel compelled to do my part to help save the mountains.

I strongly contest the rationale of mining. And if this will continue, it would have a devastating impact on the health of the people, the water quality, and our global climate.

Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran

Dati'y kulay asul, ngayo'y naging itim.

Ang mga duming ating ikinalat sa hangin
Sa langit, 'wag na nating paabutin
Upang kung tayo'y pumanaw man
Sariwang hangin, sa langit natin matitikman.

Mayro'n lang akong hinihiling
Sa aking pagpanaw, sana ay tag-ulan
Gitara ko ay aking dadalhin
Upang sa ulap na lang tayo magkantahan.

Ang mga batang ngayon lang isinilang
May hangin pa kayang matitikman

Ingatan natin at 'wag nang sirain pa
'Pagkat 'pag Kanyang binawi, tayo'y mawawala na.

Revisiting Sagada in 24 Hours

Unplanned. I made an unplanned visit to Sagada. And this is how i outline my third visit to Sagada. Never in my untamed imagination that i will include sagada in my kalinga trip this year. My plan was to go straight to Maligcong after Banaue but for some reasons i just found myself at a jeepney to SAGADA. And while boarding the jeepney, i cant help myself reminiscing the last time i was here, not because i hate going back nor i dont like sagada anymore but thinking of how sagada look like nowadays.

The jeepney from Bontoc to Sagada took about 1 hour and a half.  I arrived at two in the afternoon and didn't do too much sightseeing/exploring that day. I only have Sumaguing cave and the Echo valley in my list to visit for that day. And since it is past 7 pm when we reach poblacion from echo valley the first thing i look for is a nearest guest house for my one night stay at Sagada. Luckily a local offer their house for a minimal fee but its outside of the town proper. I have not been To Bangaan so i agreed and give it a go.

I didn't have much time to spend in Bangaan but I'm glad that I took advantage of the opportunity to at least see some of it anyway. A thousand thanks to the folks at Bangaan, Sagada for providing such a fabulous base for my visit.

I’ve now visited Sagada three times. At this point, I’ve gotten to know and realize a lot of changes in this town, but I’ve learned the benefits of staying in different places, and I know the kinds of experiences that make a trip to Sagada more special.
